NBN Co Rational tool uplift and management
NBN Co was in the midst of implementing the rollout of the National Broadband Network; for a project of such scale, they needed the very best technologies to ensure a swift delivery with minimal risk. While the organisation had already invested in Rational tooling, the current set-up was problematic; the tools were being used for business critical activities, but were running on unknown, undocumented configurations. The systems NBN Co was relying on more and more were not being adequately managed – they knew they needed a solution that would improve reliability and maximise efficiency without derailing the progress of the rollout.
DEFINING THE PROBLEM
Our focus at the outset was to demystify the current technical set-up and determine how we could optimise it with minimal impact. Working closely with NBN Co’s team, we developed a deep understanding of current processes, business requirements and future objectives. From here, we were able to construct a tailored long-term solution.
DELIVERING THE SOLUTION
We established a managed environment, then set up and integrated Rational tools within this environment. Our expertise ensured optimal quality - we not only knew the tools and technologies themselves, we also understood how they would interact and how to best implement and configure them. We migrated across multiple major releases of software, upgraded platforms, all whilst ensuring integrity of data and system to the users. Following comprehensive testing, we managed the engagement and the rollout of the platform throughout the NBN business.
At the completion of this project, NBN Co was left with a stable, scalable platform - supported by a managed and standardised environment - that could handle the immense demands of the national rollout. But the engagement didn’t end there - the success of the implementation has led to a strong, ongoing partnership between NBN Co and Odecee. Today, we continue to work with NBN Co to support their systems and enhance their capabilities.
